Increase of rail capacity at Verbrugge Zeeland Terminals

Verbrugge International will extend two rail tracks in the port of Vlissingen at the Verbrugge Zeeland Terminal. For the extension of the tracks, a subsidy application was submitted to the European Union, which has funding available through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for Transport, for the purpose of improving the transport infrastructure within the European Union. Verbrugge is one of the Dutch parties receiving the EU funding for improving the rail infrastructure.

The Verbrugge Zeeland Terminal regularly transships general cargo like steel and woodpulp products as well as military equipment with various destinations throughout Europe. Rail transport is an important transport modality to enable fast and sustainable connections to the European hinterland. By extending the tracks, multiple and longer trains can be efficiently loaded and unloaded at the same time. This expansion of the rail capacity is needed to accommodate further growth in rail transport.

The construction works start early March and will be completed by the end of September 2024.
